Overview of Event

The 23rd World Petroleum Congress, the signature global catalyst for oil and gas ministers, executives, experts and opinion shapers, convenes December 6-10, 2020, in Houston, Texas, USA. From the opening to the closing ceremonies, you will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and delegates representing more than 100 countries. The Congress expects to host more than 10,000 participants, including 50 ministerial delegations, 700 expert presenters, 500 CEOs, 1,000 media representatives and 250 high-profile exhibitors.

History of the World Petroleum Congress

The World Petroleum Council organizes the triennial World Petroleum Congress as the principal meeting place for a global discussion of timely oil and gas issues and formulating innovative solutions to ensure sustainable energy for the benefit of all. Known as the Olympics of the petroleum industry, the Congress covers all aspects of the industry from technological advances in upstream and downstream operations to the role of natural gas and renewables, management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact. In addition, outside stakeholders such as governments, other industry sectors, NGOs and international institutions have also joined in the dialogue.

London presented the first Congress in 1933. Houston, the energy capital of the world, was selected by member nations of the World Petroleum Council to host the 23rd World Petroleum Congress in 2020. Houston continues to be the epicenter for technology advancement, entrepreneurship and transformation for the evolving oil and gas industry. The World Petroleum Congress will showcase the city’s diversity and commitment to innovation that enhances the ever-changing world.
